Unfortunately it does not work for me. I tried all different p0X, based on the info in Apples Mail App it should be p01 for me, but nothing works, I always get an authentication failure.

Its unbelievable that an email app cannot connect to one of the popular mail-servers, especially an email app designed for Mac that cannot connect to Apple email-server. You are right too with the statement that Outlook 2016 for mac makes no sense.

The TWC page was of no help. I'm actually using outlook 2013 via my new office365 subscription. I'm very confused by all of this.

Last week when purchased I had to establish a Microsoft account in order to get my software, so I now have an additional outlook.com as well as my outlook 2013. I intend to keep outlook.com dormant while I use Outlook 2013 for my daily email activities. No reference to Outlook 2013 on TWC page.

And all of their instructions are on how to setup a new account. I have the accounts set up, but somehow my outlook is constantly synchronizing hundreds of already downloaded emails in my inbox back to the TWC webmail, filling up the 100MB of storage I have, thus i'm constantly over quota and all emails to that address bounce. The instructions that page shows for Outlook 2010 are the ones you need to use for Outlook 2013 as well. If you use POP, nothing can sync back up to the server. If you use POP, mail will flow from the server to the client only.

IMAP is two-way and will show you what's on the server and what you do locally will also sync up to the server. When you add an IMAP account, you won't have anything stored locally, since the folders are completely determined by the server, and nothing in Outlook will sync back to the mailbox because you started with nothing in Outlook.

This leads me to believe I don't have the full picture of what you're doing. You don't say what type of account you created. One thing I notice in the instructions is that the incoming server isn't configure with encryption. This means that anyone on your network can see your mailbox's username and password in the clear. If you are on a public network, that would be bad. Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this if you don't want to switch to POP?

I would like to leave emails on server because I use multiple devices to access email (laptop using Windows 10 and an IPad). With POP, I'm assuming I'd end up with some emails on one device and other emails on the 2nd device depending on which one I was using at the time of email download. Interesting fact is the IMAP downloading all emails every time problem doesn't occur with the IPad, it appears to only be an Office 365/Outlook problem.
