How To Get Word Count In Microsoft Word For Mac
I can't get the word count to display in Word on my Mac. I'm running the latest version 15.17.1 and I have right clicked on the bottom bar and checked that 'word count' is ticked. It had previously been displaying. I've expanded the size of my window to make sure that it's not hidden. In TOOLS/WORD COUNT I have also got 'Includes in footnotes and endnotes' selected On a separate issue (that may be related), I also find that every time I open a new Doc the default language resets to US English when I want it to be UK English, even though I have gone in TOOLS/LANGUAGE and clicked on DEFAULT after having selected UK English. The latest version is 15.18 (it came out this week).
To display the status bar in Word for Mac 2011, on the Word menu, click Preferences, click View, and then under Window, select the check box next to Status bar. To see the number of characters, lines, paragraphs, and other information, click the word count in the status bar to open the Word Count box. Count the number of characters, lines, and paragraphs. You can view the number of characters, lines, paragraphs, and other information in your Word for Mac, by clicking the word count in the status bar to open the Word Count box. Word for Mac 2011 displays the word count a little differently from the PC versions of Word. Instead of showing only the total word count, Word for Mac displays the words you highlight along with the total number of words in the document in the status bar at the bottom of the document.

I'm on 15.18 and the word count is working as expected. Turn on camera for skype mac. The language reset bug is a known bug (but check System Preferences>Language & Region to make sure you have UK English selected there as well). Please select Help>Check for Updates in Word. After the update, restart your computer and see if either problem has been fixed.
